I’M GETTING ANOTHER MIATA DAMMIT. While I don’t regret selling my Miata and buying a Buick Regal I desperately miss my Miata. I keep thinking about what car I might get as my next fun car and while lots of different cars are very enticing I don’t see anything delivering as many smiles per dollar as my Miata. Luckily since my next one won’t be a daily I won’t have to worry about things like the condition of the top or the interior.

You went from a Miata to a Buick Regal?

How do you go from driving one of the funnest cars on the road to driving a couch?

Simple, wife demands family car and I needed a bulletproof daily so I can go nuts with the next fun car. That said I was on a backroad I’ve been down in several Mazdas with the regal loaded with family and tried taking a turn at what I thought was a moderate speed until the rear end stepped out.

How’s the Regal? I was going to poke at some other cars to start making candidates to replace the gutted out Kia Rio I love. Wouldn’t give it up, but a vehicle with more than just a driver seat would come in handy methinks.

Oh my goodness...your family all need to change their underwear. Just imagine the body roll on that thing fully loaded.

The Regal is everything I could ever ask for in a solid daily. Bought it with less than 150k miles for under $1500 and All I’ve done so far is top off the oil and the air. 3800 is solid and I realize I’ve kind of forgotten what torque is like.

Yeah my wife snapped from side to side as I reeled it back in and didn’t say a word and the kids love that kind of thing.

It’s a sound investment. Used Miatas are cheap, cheap to insure and give adequate gas mileage, and every mile you drive in the Miata extends the life expectancy of your Regal by a mile. Plus when either car breaks or needs service, which they’ll do sooner or later, you have the other one to get around in. So it’s not like owning a track-only car that just adds to your expenses; you might even end up saving money in the long run when you buy another Miata.

Nice! It’s funny because I mentioned the Regal to my mom and she still associates that specific model as the “I’ve made it” car. It’s weird because caddys and buicks weren’t ever old people cars in my area, they were what you aspired to.

on different thought, these late lincoln town cars look like money today on the road when they are clean.

The kind of Miata I’m going to shop for may end up being track only.

I’m thinking of more of a stripped down autocross car as I have 4 clubs within an hours drive.
